When the filming was complete I had to upload my rushes on to the computer using a fire wire cable this enabled to upload them on any computer in the school. I up loaded the brays footage on to the school system; this allowed my other group members to access the rushes if required. Uploading the storyline footage, I experience technical difficulties as my memory on my student disc space was full half was through uploading. After deleting a few files on the system I was able to upload the rushes.
When the uploading was finally complete I was able to import all my rushes in to Adobe Premier Elements to begin the process of editing. As I used two different cameras to film The Brays and the storyline, the two different sets of rushes had a difference in quality. I had experienced a problem during film which made the footage a very poor quality. The pixels of the footage seem to jump, causing the brays and the storyline footage to be very different
However, I didn’t have enough time to re-film my footage and edit in time for the deadline, so I decided to persevere with the footage and hopefully by changing the colour to black and white it would be as noticeable. I also decided to change the colour to black and white because of the continuity errors in the Brays footage. The coloured lighting in the back ground change pace and colour and I found it very difficult to edit.
To construct the video I made sure I followed the basic outline of my story creating a broken relationship with the edits in between of the band. This was a very good way in creating an interesting music video, however making the cuts in between the Band and the storyline I found that the transitions became very sharp and look like a block change. To remove this I added several transitions such as “dip to black”, “additional dissolve” and “crossover dissolve”. This made the video run smoothly and makes the band apart of the story created.
When editing, I found the continuity throughout very hard, I wanted to make sure that the story looked real, however some of the footage wasn’t good enough to include: creating a continuity error. The hood was up in the previous scene and now is down( see picture)
Another problem I experience was the import of my soundtrack, The Brays re-released the song I was doing however only sent me it in an iTunes file and when imported It played very quietly. This made the editing hard as I couldn’t hear the lyrics of the song to visualise my visuals. I then had to go and buy the album from Mr Seddon for £9.99 and then imported the song I needed into Premier Elements.
To get more feedback for my audience feedback questionnaire I made sure that I uploaded it to YouTube; this gave me varied amounts of response that I needed. I also exported into QuickTime so I would be able to save the rendered footage on a to memory stick, enabling me to work from home. Overall, after experiencing continuity errors and persevering with the quality of the footage my video turn out just the way I intended.
